Professional Development: SHPE & HOLA Book Club
Book Club is looking for participants to be a part of a book discussion with; Mr. Guy Marshall, Director of Manufacturing Engineering. Learn what strategies were executed by Captain Abrashoff when he took over as commander of USS Benfold. Knowing that responsibility for improving performance rested with him, he realized he had to improve his own leadership skills before he could improve his ship.  ”It's Your Ship: Management Techniques from the Best Damn Ship in the Navy, 10th Anniversary Edition” Let’s discuss these strategies as they are applicable to today’s environment at LM. Let’s see if we can take ownership of our ship. The book provides insight into a leadership style which derives positive results. The book is easy reading. Chapter Development: 2017 SHPE 4Q General Meeting
Join and participate in our last General Meeting of the 2016-2017 academic year and be part of the “Familia”. All are welcome, as well as any suggestions for current/future events. The chapter Executive Leadership Team (ELT) will provide a recap of this year’s past events and highlight our plans for 2017/2018. Enrich your community by supporting any of our events yet to occur and guide the generation of tomorrow to a brighter future. 
This event will occur on June 8th from 11:30 am – 12:30 pm in the AVC Theater. Lunch will be provided so respond if interested and contact Juan P. Gonzalez. Don’t forget to bring a friend!

SHPE End of Year Luncheon
Join us for our last event of the 2016-2017 SHPE/academic year to celebrate our chapter accomplishments and to welcome the incoming 2016-2017 Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and Board of Directors (BOD). In addition to reviewing our upcoming year goals, we will also be recognizing our chapter award recipients for 2016-2017.  This event is open to SHPE members and additional details will be announced in an upcoming meeting notice. Please contact Mathew Castro for additional questions.

SHPE Scholarship Golf Tournament Recap
We would like to thank all participants and volunteers for the success of our 6th annual SHPE Golf Tournament. This year the tournament was held at The Resort Golf Club on Eagle Mountain on Friday, May 5 2017. From this event alone, we raised over $8,000 in scholarship funds for high school students pursuing a degree in STEM.

SHPE & HOLA Wellness Forum Recap
The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineer (SHPE) hosted a Wellness Forum on Tuesday, May 09, 2017 in the Aeronautics Vision Center (AVC) Theater at 11 am Central Daylight Time (CDT). The guest speaker for this event was Crissy Carter, Certified Professional Therapist (CPT) and Sports and Fitness Manager Corporate Employees Recreation Association (CERA), formally Lockheed Martin Recreation Association (LMRA). The title of Crissy’s presentation will be “Better Health through Nutrition.” The attendance for this event was approximately 20. The audience was very receptive to the information and asked some great questions during the Q & A period.

2017 SHPE LM Aero Scholarship Golf Tournament
We are in need of volunteers for our 6th annual 2017 SHPE Golf Tournament at The Resort Golf Club on Eagle Mountain on Friday, May 5 2017. All profits go to our scholarship fund for high school students pursuing a degree in STEM.
