Wednesday, December 2nd, was a very memorable night as the SHPE Familia came together once again at the FW Petroleum Club, fulfilling our civic duty of giving back to our community. SHPE’s STEM outreach initiatives are a direct result of the hard work and dedication of the Chapter’s members and supporters. The Holiday Charity Gala serves as one of two fundraising events for the awarding of local STEM-bound high school students and we are very proud to be able to do this year after year. FWISD Board President Jacinto “Cinto” Ramos delivered a moving and inspirational Key Note speech addressing the need for professionals to return to the inner city and cultivating young talent in underrepresented, low income areas. He stressed the importance and impact positive role models have and the magnitude of leading by example can have on others. Mr. Tom Carney, VP of Program Management Processes & Controls, also gave an enlightening speech that highlighted Lockheed Martin’s dedication to the community, specifically the work done within STEM outreach. Additionally, we would like to thank State Representative Ramon Romero Jr., for his attendance and continued support of SHPE. Congratulations to our award winners: Rising Star Award - Aaron De La Vega, Rising Star Award - Matthew Castro, President’s Award - Samantha Dominguez, President’s Award - Astrid Barajas, Member of the Year - Lorena Loucel. Finally, SHPE would like to thank all of our donors, guests, members, and friends for having joined us and having made such a wonderful evening possible! |
