A Word From Our President

¡Feliz y prospero año nuevo, SHPE Familia! As we start the new year, I would like to take a moment to look back at all the great things this chapter has accomplished in the last 6 months. Your SHPE Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and Board of Directors (BOD) have executed over 50 incredible events to include; a fantastic Noche De Ciencias at Trimble Tech High School, a revamped after school Lego Lab program at High Point Academy, continuing our popular Executive Spotlight Lunch and Learn Series, and growing our chic Holiday Charity Gala at the Petroleum Club.

I am also proud to announce we have seen record numbers of students come out for our SHPE Jr activities at all three of our partner high schools, and we expect our largest turnout ever (over 100 students plus their parents) for our next Noche de Ciencias at North Side High School this Thursday, January 21st. This is in no small part due to the amazing volunteer support we get from our members, and also the strong partnership we have formed with the Fort Worth Independent School District (FWISD) and the Fort Worth Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (FWHCC).

In addition to our great membership contribution, the support we received from the FWISD Board President Jacinto Ramos, State Rep. Ramon Romero, and our amazing Lockheed leadership enabled us raise over $2,000 during the Gala. With this success, and the realization of our other activities, I am now challenging our chapter to strive for a new goal of awarding $10,000 in student scholarships during our Scholarship Awards Luncheon on June 10th.

In order to reach this goal, the chapter needs your continued support and strong participation in our Spring Charity Golf Tournament on May 6th at The Resort Golf Club. Please help spread the word, and on behalf of the chapter ELT and BOD, thank you for a wonderful 2015, and we look forward to making a big difference in 2016. ¡Muchas Gracias!
