SHPE National Conference Recap

From Wednesday, November 11th to Sunday, November 15th, twelve members of SHPE at LM Aero participated in the SHPE National Conference in Baltimore, MD. This year many of the SHPE LM Aero members were working during the conference supporting the LM sponsored Resume Room reviewing student resumes and offering advice for improvement, working the Career Fair screening candidates and conducting career discussions, or supporting numerous National Committees. In terms of development, the attendees participated in the 3-day Professional Track with numerous engineering and career training classes, information briefs, and sessions. Attendees also participated in the newly created Employee Resource Group (ERG) Track, led by the chapter’s own Michael Gutierrez, and gained insight from other companies and organizations on how to take our organization to the next level. The participants also attended all the major conference events including the Region 5 meeting, SHPE National meeting, Awards Banquet, STEM luncheon, and Chapter Presidents Breakfast. During the President’s Breakfast, Jessie Medrano was awarded the Excellence in Leadership Award for his many years of volunteer service at the National Conference and leading the National Signage Committee since 2012. Samantha Dominguez also accepted sponsorship/nomination to become a Lifetime SHPE member during the Lifetime Members Social. Congratulations to Jessie and Samantha and join us next year in Seattle!
