On June 9th, the chapter held its annual scholarship award luncheon to honor our 2015-2016 college scholarship award recipients. This year the chapter surpassed its goal of awarding $6,000 in scholarships by granting four graduating Fort Worth high school student each $2,500 in pursuit of a college degree in a STEM field of their choice. The day’s event included a brief about SHPE and our chapter goals, a video overview of Lockheed Martin, a key note speech from our Executive Sponsor, Dr. Alex Eksir, presentation of our award and gifts, and a personalized guided tour of the F-35 production line for an attending recipient and her family.  The chapter would like to thank the Lockheed Leadership that was able to attend and for their continued support of our mission, and an additional thank you to Dr. Eksir for sponsoring the lunch. Finally, the chapter would like to recognize Matthew Castro for organizing the event, Gabe Beard for serving as this year’s Scholarship Chair, and all our chapter members and advocates that have contributed to make these awards possible.
