The
Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) at LM Aero-Fort Worth chapter
hosted four very distinguished Hispanic, college-bound students on July 26 in
the plant for a scholarship award recognition luncheon. The luncheon included a
presentation of the scholarship awards, Lockheed Martin overview followed by a
keynote speech from SHPE LM Aero Executive Sponsor, Dr. Alex Eksir, and
concluded with a tour of the F-35 assembly line. The lunch was provided on
behalf of the special guests and SHPE LM Aero Executive Sponsors, Alex Eksir
and Tom Bradley. Thank you Alex and Tom for the gracious support and
generosity! The SHPE at LM Aero scholarship program represents gratitude, personal
excellence, motivation, integrity, leadership, and community involvement. This
award represents the third in the history of the chapter operating as an official
tax-exempt organization. The SHPE at LM Aero scholarship program was awarded to
the winners based upon strict requirements in academic performance, awards and
recognition received, their involvement in the community, and desire to pursue
a degree within science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The scholarship
winners were Miss Consuelo Cuevas, graduate of Fort Worth Trimble Tech High
School and plans to attend Cornell University; Miss Emily Olmos, graduate of
Keller High School and plans to attend Texas A&M University; Miss Alexa
Cardenas, graduate of Arlington High School and plans to attend the University
of Texas at Arlington; Miss Nicole Aragon, graduate of Richland High School and
plans to attend the University of Texas at Dallas. All graduates plan to major
in engineering, science, or mathematics. This year the winning students were
awarded $1,000 each that may be applied to tuition, books, and school supplies
on behalf of SHPE at LM Aero and Lockheed Martin. The SHPE at LM Aero
Scholarship program funds were raised from the annual charity golf tournament
held June 7 at Squaw Creek in Fort Worth. We congratulate all of our
scholarship winners and wish them the best of luck as they embark on a new
journey in their lives!
